It's my observation that the same specie of tree can and does grow in different growing zones. Chinese Elm grow from North China to south China and many different growth zones, the same with Junipers and many other trees of the type.
I was thinking that once a tree goes into "deep" dormancy,it doesn't know how long it's there. If you can replicate the conditions that bring a tree out of sleep it shouldn't know the difference. What say you?

Hi Michael,

You are correct that seasons vary in length. There are some studies referred to life zones that have tested your theory, but i am not sure of the results. I wish I had more information and I will ask some arbor friends next week. I will post an update when i get an answer.
